Telesna aktivnost in nevrodegenerativna obolenja / Physical activity and neurodegeneration - v pripravi

Abstract

Neurodegeneration has become a hot topic in recent decades, since we are faced with an epidemic of diseases caused by this process. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease are probably the two that are most well known due to their relatively high prevalence among elderly people. Unfortunately, we are still in a race to find the  definitive cure, a medicine that will stop neurodegeneration. So far no cure has been achieved. On the other hand, we are gaining new knowledge that a relatively simple intervention such as regular physical activity could have potential benefits on the symptoms of these diseases, and what is even more attractive is that there is also some evidence that, in addition, physical activity could slow the neurodegenerative process.

Izvleček

V zadnjih letih smo priča skokovitemu porastu bolnikov z nevrodegenerativnimi obolenji. Med njimi sta zaradi pogostnosti najbolj znani Alzheimerjeva in Parkinsonova bolezen. Žal nam učinkovitega zdravila proti tema obolenjema do zdaj še ni uspelo odkriti.
